About
napCopier Engineering is where I write down what I learn while building SnapCopier, a cloud trade copier for MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5.
A trade copier takes the trades on one trading account and repeats them on others, including across platforms: MT4 to MT5 and back. SnapCopier does it from servers, so there is no terminal or VPS for you to keep running. It is in free beta.
What you will find here
- Measurements with their numbers. When I change something because of a measurement, the post says what was measured, how, and what it did and did not show.
- Design decisions and their reasons. Account leases, event ordering, reconciling after a lost message, why the two MetaTrader libraries never share a process.
- Things that went wrong. A burst of closes that started 30 times slower than expected, a database constraint that stalled a writer, a "fix" that was not enough.
- The MetaTrader details that are easy to get wrong. Partial closes that arrive as a close and a new ticket, cent accounts, broker symbol names.
How I write these
I show the measured numbers and say where a number comes from, and where a result is only a correlation I could not prove, the post says so. Posts here are written with AI assistance and checked against the code and the measurements before they go out.
About me
I am the developer behind SnapCopier. I work mostly in .NET and PostgreSQL.
